Find healing through empathic and genuine connection.
Hello! I’m Deserea.
I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) who provides individual therapy to adults in California in a warm and collaborative manner. I specialize in the treatment of PTSD and working with military and veteran populations and their families. As a spouse and family member of active duty service members and veterans myself, I have been afforded the opportunity of becoming uniquely familiar with military and veteran cultures.
In my over eight years of experience, I have worked with culturally diverse clients in a variety of settings, including community-based case management, community mental health clinics, and within the VA San Diego Healthcare System. I also have trained and supervised bachelor’s and master’s level social work trainees and have provided clinical supervision to new social work professionals working toward clinical licensure.
My approach
I value empathic and genuine connection and strive to build this kind of deep relationship with those I work with in therapy. I create a warm and safe space through my own practice of authenticity, compassion, and use of humor. I believe each individual has inherent knowledge and skills they’ve acquired through their unique lived experiences, all of which serve as assets to the therapy process.
My hope is that therapy will be a warm place of support where you can “try on” new ways of thinking, feeling, and living and develop new patterns that improve how you show up for yourself and others. Together, we can work to re-write unhelpful narratives, build skills to manage and safely move through difficult emotions and situations, and improve coping.
